Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland took a detour on his way to play the Miami Marlins.
Freeland stopped in Tampa Bay on his night off to support the Colorado Avalanche by attending Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at Amalie Arena on Monday. The Rockies' three-game series against the Marlins starts on Tuesday. "Our friends are worth the trip," the Rockies commented on a photo posted to social media by the team.
Freeland, a Denver native, hopes to see the Stanley Cup brought back to his hometown. "It makes me very proud to see this team and what they've done over the past handful of years," he said. "To finally get to the opportunity they have in their hands, hopefully they can pull it off and bring the Cup home to Denver."
