Johnny Gaudreau honored his late friend, former NHL forward Jimmy Hayes, on Friday.
Hayes died in August 2021 at 31 years old. In tribute, Gaudreau wore a black hat with "Jimmy" and a shamrock on the front, and "Broadway," Hayes' nickname, on the back, at the 2022 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings Sportsbook. He kept the cap on while competing in the 2022 Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting competition. The Flames shared a picture of Gaudreau wearing the hat at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Gaudreau played for Boston College with Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes, Jimmy's younger brother. Earlier this season the Flyers, Kevin's team, and the Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins, all former teams of Jimmy Hayes, remembered him with special tribute videos and jerseys that featured his nicknames.
