"It kind of puts everything into perspective in what him and his family are going through," coach Glen Gulutzan said at Calgary's moring skate Monday. "We wish them nothing but the best. We're completely, in this locker room and this organization, a family-first organization. We feel for Johnny and we know how close that family is. We're with them 100 percent here even though we're not with them. We just wish that family the best."
Gaudreau, 24, leads the Flames with an NHL career-high 82 points. His 59 assists, also his NHL best, are tied for fourth in the League.
Calgary (35-31-10) has lost five straight games and trails the St. Louis Blues by nine points for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
Goalie Mike Smith told the Flames website they will try to get a win for Gaudreau against the Kings.
"Anytime something happens within someone's family it's like an extended part of our family," Smith said. "So I think obviously we're thinking about Johnny and his family in this situation that has gone on here. It's always tough when one of your teammates has a personal matter they have to attend to and we're thinking about them. But it's important for guys step up and try and get a win for Johnny, too."
