Driedger was injured in the third period of Canada's 4-3 overtime loss to Finland in the championship game of the 2022 IHF World Championship on May 29.
The Kraken said he will need 7-9 months to recover from the surgery.
The 28-year-old was claimed by Seattle from the Florida Panthers in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft on July 21 and signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract ($3.5 million annual average value) on July 26.
He was 9-14-1 with a 2.96 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 27 games (24 starts) as the backup to Philipp Grubauer.
Driedger was selected by the Ottawa Senators in third round (No. 76) of the 2012 NHL Draft and played three games in relief with Ottawa from 2014-17 before signing as a free agent with the Panthers on Feb. 24, 2019.
He played in 35 games (34 starts) for Florida over two seasons and is 30-23-5 with a 2.45 GAA, a .917 save percentage and five shutouts in 65 NHL games (58 starts).

played five games (four starts) in goal for the Kraken last season. He went 0-4-0 with a 4.30 GAA and .850 save percentage.
