maine goalie

Boston Bruins minor leaguer Francois Brassard dialed one up from long distance to make Maine Mariners history.

The 28-year-old goalie scored a goal from way across the ice during a 5-2 win against the Adirondack Thunder on Sunday.

Brassard played a loose puck just to the left of his crease with 24 seconds left in the game, took aim and fired.
He cleared the 10 skaters in his own zone in the air and by the time the puck hit the ice near the red line it was moving too fast for the last Thunder defender to catch up to it.
It is the first goalie goal in Mariners history.
