Defenseman Alexei Emelin was traded to the Nashville Predators by the Vegas Golden Knights for a third-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft on Saturday.
Emelin, 31, who has one year left on his contract, has 72 points (14 goals, 58 assists) in 380 NHL games, all with Montreal, after getting 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 76 games last season. Emelin was selected in the third round (No. 84) in the 2004 NHL Draft. He led the Canadiens in hits in each of his six seasons in Montreal (1,236 total). Emellin was a teammate of Predators defensemen P.K. Subban and Yannick Weber with the Canadiens.
