If Team Europe was looking for a good luck charm, there probably isn't anything better than a handwritten note from The Great One.
Wayne Gretzky was in Toronto to help the NHL announce its plans for the Centennial celebration. Gretzky will serve as an ambassador during the yearlong celebration. He also dropped by the Team Europe locker room, leaving a note for captain Anze Kopitar, ahead of the World Cup of Hockey 2016 Final against Team Canada in a best-of-3 series.

The note read, "Good Luck, Have Fun, Wayne 99."

During a Q&A in the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in Toronto's Distillery District Sunday, Gretzky expressed his admiration for Team Europe.
"I think as far as Team Europe goes, we didn't know what to expect, we didn't know how that would all come together, and obviously their coaching staff did a really wonderful job of putting together a nice group of players," Gretzky said. "[Team Europe captain] Anze [Kopitar] is really a top-notch player, I rate him in the top five players in the NHL, so he's been a terrific leader of that group. I'm happy for them."
