Lundqvist revealed his new Bauer 2S Pro goalie pads for the 2017-18 season, and they will feature images of New York landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty.

The pads are backdropped by images of the famous roof of Madison Square Garden, where Lundqvist has played home games for the New York Rangers for his entire 12-season NHL career. The skyline is framed by a red-and-gray outlined crown, a nod to his homeland of Sweden, and the design is completed with red, white and blue stripes at the bottom, made to resemble the Rangers' jersey striping.
Lundqvist has regularly donned traditional red, white and blue pads during his career, though he sported pinstripe pads and equipment for the Rangers' two games at Yankee Stadium as part of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series. He cited Bauer's enhanced technology for his decision to go with the bold design.
"It's been fun to be part of the development of [Bauer's] goalie equipment over the last few years," Lundqvist posted on Instagram. "I feel like now is the time we take the design to another level because of the print technique that's being used."
