Raanta leaves game with injury in 1st period

Antti Raanta sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Wednesday.

Raanta was injured at 7:47 after he was hit by Bruins forward David Pastrnak as he was playing the puck just outside the crease. Pastrnak, who made contact with the goalie's left leg and head, was assessed a minor penalty for goaltender interference. He made six saves.
The Hurricanes won 5-2 and took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
"Obviously he didn't come back, so that's not a good sign," Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "But he was in good spirits."
Brind'Amour said Raanta is not in concussion protocol.
Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov, who made his NHL debut on April 23 and played three regular-season games, replaced Raanta and made 30 saves. Frederik Andersen, who hasn't played since April 16, is still out because of a lower-body injury.
Raanta made 35 saves in Carolina's 5-1 win in Game 1 on Monday. It was his first Stanley Cup Playoff start.
