Pavel Buchnevich

New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.
Buchnevich was injured on a hit by Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner during the second period of a 4-0 loss at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Buchnevich did not practice Friday.

Forward Jimmy Vesey is likely to take Buchnevich's spot on a line with Rick Nash and Mika Zibanejad, coach Alain Vigneault said. The Rangers (25-21-5), who are 3-7-0 in their past 10 games, play at the Nashville Predators on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; FS-TN, MSG, NHL.TV).
"I'm thinking right away of a guy like Jimmy who all year long is begging for more ice time," Vigneault told the Rangers website. "Now he's getting an opportunity to play with [Zibanejad] and [Nash], two pretty good players. He's got to elevate his game."
Buchnevich, 22, has 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 50 games this season with the Rangers, who selected him in the third round (No. 75) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
