Jack Johnson was traded to the Colorado Avalanche by the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday for defenseman Andreas Englund.

The 36-year-old defenseman has four assists in 58 games this season. He signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Blackhawks on Aug. 17 after winning the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche last season.

Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes with the No. 3 pick in the 2005 NHL Draft, Johnson has 316 points (72 goals, 244 assists) in 1,082 regular-season games for the Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Avalanche and Blackhawks. He also has 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 43 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Englund, 27, had three assists in 36 games for Colorado this season.
The Avalanche (33-19-5) are tied with the Winnipeg Jets for third in the Central Division, one point behind the Minnesota Wild for second, and three points behind the Dallas Stars for first.
The Blackhawks (21-32-5) have won five in a row but are in last place in the Central.
