The 19-year-old forward was selected by the Sabres with the No. 8 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft on Oct. 6.
"When I think of Buffalo, I think of a great sports town and a great hockey town. I think I was very excited just because of that, first of all," Quinn told the Sabres website after he was drafted. "And also, I think it was just a great spot. Right away, I thought I'm very excited to be able to try to make this team and be a part of it."
Quinn scored 52 goals for Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League last season, second in the league and first among draft-eligible players. He is the fourth OHL player in the past 10 seasons to score at least 50 goals in his draft season (Arthur Kaliyev, Alex DeBrincat and Jeff Skinner).
"I'm an offensive player," Quinn said. "I'm a goal-scorer. I like to shoot the puck, but I also like to drive the bus offensively and make plays and kind of make it hard on other teams defensively. So I think first and foremost, I'm an offensive player. But I think my defensive game is pretty well-rounded too."
Quinn is one of 46 players participating in Hockey Canada's national junior team selection camp in Red Deer, Alberta, from Nov. 16-Dec. 13. The camp is the final step in picking the team that will play for Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, scheduled for Dec. 25-Jan. 5, 2021, at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
"You see the ability for him to keep getting better," Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said. "His athleticism is high. Just a lot of the metrics that we look at when we're scouting, he met and some. This was just a player that, the more work we did, the more excited we got.
"He has what I would say is a really good self-awareness of who he is as a player and he also has a determination that I see him getting better and better. He has that growth mindset kind of mentality where you could just see it, he wants to get better."
