Jacob Markstrom has been granted a leave of absence from the Vancouver Canucks and is expected to rejoin them during the weekend.

Markstrom, who is 2-2-0 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .926 save percentage, is attending to a family matter, Canucks general manager Jim Benning said Monday.
Thatcher Demko is expected to make his first start this season when the Canucks play the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Arena on Tuesday (10 p.m. ET; SN1, FS-D, NHL.TV).
