The Calgary Flames goalie made a ridiculous left pad save on Pavelski from point-blank range during the third period of Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round on Friday.
Markstrom went down in anticipation of Stars forward Jason Robertson shooting from his right. But instead of taking the shot, Robertson made a pretty pass to Pavelski, trailing the play and coming down on Markstrom's left, seemingly with an open net.
Markstrom somehow stretched his left leg back behind his body and into the crease, stopping the puck before it crossed the goal line.
After sweeping it back out, Pavelski regained possession but couldn't get much on his own rebound thanks to Flames forward Calle Jarnkrok contested the shot.
The look on Pavelski's face said it all.
Markstrom secured the puck by closing up his pads and laying flat on the ice. And why not? After that sequence he deserved to take a little break.
