Jake McCabe agreed to a two-year, $5.7 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $2.85 million.
The 25-year-old defenseman, who was a restricted free agent, avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Sunday. McCabe had 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 59 games with the Sabres last season. Selected by Buffalo in the second round (No. 44) of the 2012 NHL Draft, McCabe has 61 points (14 goals, 47 assists) in 274 NHL games.
