Vrana rewarded by Capitals with new two-year contract

Jakub Vrana signed a two-year, $6.7 million contract with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. It has an average annual value of $3.35 million.

The 23-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, had NHL career highs in goals (24), assists (23) and points (47) and was plus-20 in 82 regular-season games for the Capitals last season. He had no points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"Jakub is a highly skilled player with a tremendous upside and is a big part of our future," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said. "We are pleased with his development the past two seasons and are looking forward for him to continue to develop and reach his full potential with our organization."

Selected by Washington in the first round (No. 13) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Vrana has 80 points (40 goals, 40 assists) in 176 regular-season games and eight points (three goals, five assists) in 30 playoff games.
He had eight points (three goals, five assists) in 23 playoff games to help the Capitals win the Stanley Cup in 2018.
