Stars teammates pay tribute to Benn with slicked hair, taped sticks

Benn there, done that.
Benn, in this case, is Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn. And that would be 1,000 NHL games.

The veteran forward was celebrated at American Airlines Center on Monday for reaching the milestone.
During the first stoppage in play, fans in attendance gave Benn - who has scored 813 points [348 goals, 465 assists] in those 1,000 games, all with the Stars - a rousing standing ovation that lasted more than a minute. Players from both the Stars and visiting Anaheim Ducks tapped their sticks.
Before the game, teammates paid homage to Benn by slicking back their hair [a Benn trademark] and taping their sticks exactly like him, just one thin line near the end of the blade. The Stars posted the video evidence on social media.

Stars forward Tyler Seguin, a longtime teammate of Benn, made a joke about the unque tape job.

"The fact that he could do 1,000 games with this is even more impressive," showing off his Benn-style tape in a video shared by the Stars.
Even Benn's minor league squad, the Kelowna Rockets, got in on the celebration.

During the in-game ovation Benn waved his left hand to the crowd in acknowledgment and calmly waited for play to resume.
