Young Jets fan practices kindness, hands puck to Penguins fan

It was an event that could easily restore one's faith in humanity and give us all optimism for the future of mankind.

A young Winnipeg Jets fan, Gunner Reese, practiced a simple act of kindness on Sunday. He passed a spare puck he received from one of the Jets players to another young fan, who just happened to be wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey.
The visual, which the Penguins shared on social media, is worth more than a thousand words.

The two kids didn't know each other. They were complete strangers, but that didn't matter.
Gunner was there in full Jets gear with his sign about being "the only Jets fan in Pittsburgh." He got the tickets back in December for his 11th birthday, his dad, Kevin Reese, told NHL.com.
"I had the puck to spare. I had already gotten one and the kid next to me didn't have one, so I gave it to him," Gunner told NHL.com.
Gunner also handed out a puck to another fan in a Jets jersey and gave another away to a baby in the area.
The act got the stamp of approval from his Jets -- who he chose to root for because he loves all things planes -- as well.

It's not like Gunner, who lives 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh and attends Hopewell Memorial Junior High, doesn't hear it from his Penguins fans friends. In fact, after the Jets lost to the Penguins on Sunday, Gunner lost a bet with a friend and has to wear a Penguins jersey to his hockey practice on Monday.
"Because they lost in a shootout, I can still wear my Jets hat," he said.
And even with all that, the kid chose kindness when he didn't have to.
"I feel very fortunate," Kevin said. "That he is blessed with a kind heart, especially in these times."
