Scheifele purchased the goats in March and named then after the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback and 15-time major tournament champion golfer, a play on the acronym GOAT or "greatest of all time."
"I named them after my two favorite athletes," Scheifele said Monday. "Obviously I'm a big fan of Tom Brady and Tiger Woods, so it's kind of a little bit of a joke."
Scheifele purchased the animals "literally just for fun." His pets live on his property, where they coexist with his dog, Oliver, and have adequate opportunity to graze. The trio greet him every morning after he wakes up.
"They're best friends with Oliver," Scheifele said. "Honestly, I never knew much about them, then you start taking care of them, and you wake up in the morning, you bring them their alfalfa pellets and you open the door [and] they instantly 'bahh' at you. It's kind of like they're saying 'daad.'"
Scheifele brought the goats to the rink Saturday, a day after the Jets' regular-season finale.
"They're pretty fun to hang out with, so I brought them to the rink the other day and they were buzzing around on the ice, so it was pretty cool to see that," Scheifele said.
Let's just say the goats made some memories the Jets staff will never forget.
"I don't think the trainers were too happy because they kind of pooped everywhere," Scheifele said.
