Forward Jimmy Vesey had a productive meeting with members of the Buffalo Sabres front office Thursday, according to his agents.
The Sabres have exclusive negotiating rights with Vesey, 23, through Aug. 15, when he can become an unrestricted free agent. Buffalo traded a third-round pick at the 2016 NHL Draft last month to the Nashville Predators to obtain Vesey's negotiating rights.

"The meeting went very well, I'd have to say," one of Vesey's agents, Peter Fish, told The Buffalo News. "However, until we sit down with Jimmy and fully digest everything we heard [Thursday], I can't really comment on how it might affect Aug. 15."
Vesey didn't sign with the Predators, who selected him in the third round (No. 66) of the 2012 draft. After winning the Hobey Baker Award as the top collegiate player last season with 24 goals and 46 points in 33 games with Harvard of the ECAC, he has garnered interest from several NHL teams.
"Meeting went very well," said Peter Donatelli, another agent, according to ESPN. "It was a first meeting and very informative."
Vesey likely won't sign with the Sabres before the deadline.
"I think we have a small number of teams that I think we'll really be focusing on," Vesey told NHL.com on Thursday. "So, Aug. 15 we'll start talking to them and see what they say.
"Free agency's done and I think most of the bigger names are off the board. Now you've got to start sifting through teams and rosters and prospect pools and stuff like that. So I think I'm starting to get more and more excited as the days go on because I'm really looking forward to finding out where I'm going to be."
