"It's been on my mind the past few months, but it's nice to finally get [the contract] over with," Edmundson said. "I'm really excited to be back in St. Louis for another year. Looking at our team right now, I think everyone's excited to get back going.
"The second half of the year and the start of summer, I was thinking long term, but then I saw the trade they made (for O'Reilly) and guys we signed and then my agent said it could be one year and it could work out better for me, so I had no problem signing for one year. We just had to agree on terms on that."
The Blues acquired O'Reilly from the Sabres on July 1 in a trade for forwards Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka and Tage Thompson, and a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. O'Reilly had 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists) in 81 games for Buffalo last season.
On the same day, the Blues signed Perron (four years, $16 million) and Bozak (three years, $15 million), and then signed Maroon, who grew up in the St. Louis area, to a one-year, $1.75 million contract July 10. Each was an unrestricted free agent.
