The Ducks received defenseman
Andrej Sustr
, unsigned forward prospect
Nikita Nesterenko
and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Klingberg signed a one-year contract with the Ducks on July 29, 2022, and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season. The 30-year-old defenseman has 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) in 50 games.
"We're a team that takes a lot of pride in defending and protecting our net," Wild general manager Bill Guerin said. "I just think his natural offensive abilities and instincts are something that will really help. Not that our guys don't move the puck well now, but it's just that natural offensive instinct, that natural offensive ability. We like to defend first, but when there's a play to be made, he's the type of guy that really can make a high-level offensive play."
Selected by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round (No. 131) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Klingberg has 398 points (79 goals, 319 assists) in 602 regular-season games with the Ducks and Stars and 35 points (seven goals, 28 assists) in 55 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Sustr has five assists in 23 games this season and 69 points (11 goals, 58 assists) in 361 NHL games for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ducks and Wild. The 32-year-old signed a one-year, two-way contract with Minnesota on July 13.
Nesterenko was selected by the Wild in the sixth round (No. 172) of the 2019 NHL Draft. The 21-year-old is a junior at Boston College.
Also on Friday, the Wild acquired center
Oskar Sundqvist
in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Minnesota also traded forward Jordan Greenway to the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round pick in the 2023 draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Greenway, 26, was a second-round pick (No. 50) in the 2015 NHL Draft. He has seven points (two goals, five assists) in 45 games this season, 119 points (38 goals, 81 assists) in 317 regular-season games and seven points (three goals, four assists in 22 playoff games.
"We want to thank Jordan for everything he's done with the Minnesota Wild," Guerin said. "It's been a long road for him here, all the way back to his draft day. He was a really good player for us. We all love him. He's a great kid and I just think a change is going to be really good for him, and I wish him all the best in Buffalo.
"Jordan's a young guy, and he was struggling and you can just tell when you need a change. I've been there. I just told him he's going to walk in there and it's a place that really wanted him. They're extremely excited to have him, and that feels good. We had to get pretty much exactly what we wanted or we would have kept him because going into the playoffs with a 6-foot-6, 230-pound guy is not the worse thing in the world. We got pretty close to what we wanted. I think it was a fair trade for both teams."
On Feb. 28, the Wild acquired center Gustav Nyquist from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft, and forward Marcus Johansson from the Washington Capitals for a third-round pick in 2024.
Minnesota (35-21-6) is second in the Central Division, three points behind the Stars.
"I did not think we would get this busy," Guerin said. "I think we got a lot accomplished today. I think we're better today than yesterday and that's the idea. I think our group in there worked really hard at this. I think we had a good plan going in and I think it just worked out."
