Jordan Greenway and Jon Merrill could miss the start of next season for the Minnesota Wild.

General manager Bill Guerin confirmed the news at the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft in Montreal on Thursday and said it would not affect the Wild's offseason plans.
"Not really, no." Guerin said. "I mean, they'll be back soon enough. And I think we've got the bodies that I think we can get by."
Greenway had offseason surgery after the forward missed 10 regular-season games because of an upper-body injury. He had 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) in 62 games this season and two points (one goal, one assist) in six Stanley Cup Playoff games. Greenway signed a three-year, $9 million contract ($3 million average annual value) Jan. 31.
Merrill had surgery after injuring his arm in an awkward fall when playing for the United States against Great Britain at the 2022 IIHF World Championship in May. The defenseman had an NHL career-high 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 69 regular-season games and one assist in six playoff games.
"We're just letting those guys focus on their rehab," Guerin said.
The Wild (53-22-7) were second in the Central Division this season and lost the Western Conference First Round in six games to the St. Louis Blues. They signed defenseman Jake Middleton to a three-year, $7.35 million contract ($2.45 million average annual value) Wednesday.
