Weekes

Where were you when you heard the Ottawa Senators were trading forward Nicholas Paul to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Mathieu Joseph?

Because NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes was driving down I-84, but that wouldn't stop him from delivering the news to NHL fans. Weekes pulled over on the side of the highway, put on his hazard lights and recorded a video explaining the trade he later posted to Twitter.

"There's so many people that do amazing stuff in media in their own way every day, and I think it's really good to be authentic," Weekes told NHL.com. "Most times, when I leave messages for people, I leave voice memos and I do that so often because it's not always convenient to text. That's kind of why I decided to do the videos, for a more personal touch."
It seems nothing will stop the former NHL goalie from keeping fans updated. A few hours after pulling over on the road, Weekes reported that the Seattle Kraken traded defenseman Jeremy Lauzon to the Nashville Predators for a second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft from his hotel closet in Bristol, Connecticut.

No matter where he is, when Weekes hears the news, he delivers it -- even with a trash can on his head.

"As serious as I am and as dialed in and focused as I am, I have a really fun time and a funny side too that you don't always get to see," Weekes said. "I really wanted to lean into that a lot more and bring that forward."
Of course, the studio-show host had to put a shot of his set in there, too.

After all this live reporting, there's still more to know. Breaking news: Weekes is tired.
