"It's going to be the best in the business," general manager George McPhee said at the event. "The training facilities, the way it's laid out, will be the best, both on and off the ice. The players are going to love practicing here. It allows you to take all the excuses away."
Construction is expected to begin by the end of October, and the aim is to have it completed in time for training camp in September prior to the expansion team beginning play in the 2017-18 NHL season.
"I'm going to be on everybody's case to get it done on time," owner Bill Foley said. "We're not going to Whitefish (Montana) to have training camp. It's going to be here in Vegas."
Two sheets of ice will be used by youth hockey teams when the NHL team isn't.
Foley also said at the ceremony that Las Vegas will announce its nickname and color scheme during an event at Toshiba Plaza outside of T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 19. He told Yahoo on Tuesday three names were registered: Desert Knights, Silver Knights and Golden Knights.
"There's going to be some gray, there's going to be some Red Rock red, there's going to be some gold, there's going to be some black, there's going to be some white," Foley said. "It'll all kind of work together."
