REMINDER: LAS VEGAS FRANCHISE NAME AND LOGO UNVEILING

LEAGUE, EPIX PARTNER FOR "ROAD TO THE NHL OUTDOOR CLASSICS" . . .

The NHL and EPIX announced that Road to the NHL Outdoor Classics will make its U.S. television debut on Friday, Dec. 16 (10 p.m. ET/PT, 9 p.m. CT).
The four-part series, which will be simulcast on NHL.com and EPIX.com, will chronicle the four teams participating in outdoor games at the start of 2017: the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings, who will face off in the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic on Jan. 1, and the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks, who will play in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 2.

. . . MAPLE LEAFS, RED WINGS UNVEIL CENTENNIAL CLASSIC UNIFORMS

The Maple Leafs and Red Wings
each unveiled their uniforms
for the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic, which will take place at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto on Sunday, Jan. 1 (3 p.m. ET; NBC, SN, TVA Sports).
Toronto's uniform
is a contemporary variation of its home sweater, which celebrates the history of the team while giving a symbolic nod to the next century of Maple Leafs hockey.
Detroit's uniform
pays homage to the beginnings of the franchise, notably through a tribute to the original Detroit Cougars.
Both uniforms also honor the NHL's Centennial celebration via the use of silver.

NHL, PA ANNOUNCE ALL-STAR GAME FORMAT, FAN BALLOTING

The NHL and NHLPA announced the format and fan balloting for the 2017 NHL All-Star celebration, which will be held Jan. 28-29 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Introduced at the event last season, the NHL All-Star Game will return to a 3-on-3 tournament of three 20-minute games, with players from each division making up the four All-Star teams. Each roster will include 11 players: six forwards, three defensemen and two goaltenders.
The 2017 NHL All-Star Fan Vote will determine the captains of the four teams, regardless of position, beginning next Thursday, Dec. 1. The remaining 40 All-Stars will be named by NHL Hockey Operations.

RANGERS SCORE FIVE UNANSWERED IN VICTORY AGAINST PENGUINS

Down 2-0 after the first period, the New York Rangers scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first game since the Eastern Conference First Round of the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a 4-1 series victory by Pittsburgh.
* The Rangers lead the League with 81 goals and a plus-34 margin through 20 games this season. They have scored at least five goals in 10 of their 20 games.
* Four Rangers had multiple points, including Michael Grabner (1-1-2), who shares the League lead with 12 goals (20 GP) after scoring nine in 2015-16 (80 GP w/ TOR).

MULTI-GOAL PERFORMERS LIFT OILERS, PREDATORS TO WINS

The Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators each picked up wins, aided by multi-goal performances:
* Leon Draisaitl (2-1-3) had his third career multi-goal game -- and second of the season (also Oct. 14 at CGY: 2-1-3) -- to help the Oilers to their second straight win after a five-game losing streak. Connor McDavid (0-2-2) also earned multiple points; he leads the League with 16 assists and 24 points. (20 GP).
* P.K. Subban (2-0-2) had his fourth multi-goal performance in the League, and first since Oct. 18, 2014 vs. COL (2-0-2 w/ MTL), to help the Predators to their fifth victory in their past seven games. Ryan Ellis had an NHL career high with three assists.

OVERTIME HEROICS

* The Columbus Blue Jackets tied the game with 6.5 seconds remaining in the third period, but Matt Duchene scored
at 1:49 of overtime
to help the Colorado Avalanche end Columbus' team-record home winning streak at seven games. Duchene, who returned from a four-game absence, picked up his fifth career overtime goal and first since March 10, 2014 against the Winnipeg Jets.
* The Minnesota Wild evened the score early in the third period, but Jamie Benn scored the winning goal
at 1:23 of overtime
to lift the Dallas Stars to a 4-1-2 record in their past seven games. Benn scored his third career overtime goal and first since Oct. 29, 2015 against the Vancouver Canucks.

MUST SEE: GUENTZEL MAKES MEMORABLE NHL DEBUT

Penguins forward Jake Guentzel scored twice while making his NHL debut, including his first goal on his first shot of his first shift 62 seconds into the game. Via Elias, Guentzel scored the fastest goal by a Penguins player in his NHL debut, besting the mark set by Rick Kessell on March 21, 1970 against the Blackhawks (2:19).

LOOSE PUCKS

The Buffalo Sabres scored three goals in 1:41 -- their fastest three strikes since April 3, 1998 against the Boston Bruins (1:08) -- to improve to 11-0-2 in their past 13 home games against the Calgary Flames . . . Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot (31 saves) and San Jose Sharks goaltender Martin Jones (26 saves) earned their third and second shutouts of the season, respectively . . . Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson (2-0-2) had his second multi-goal performance of 2016-17 to extend his point streak to five games (3-6-9) . . . Wild captain Mikko Koivu (0-1-1) earned his 400th NHL assist . . . BACKES FACES BLUES FOR FIRST TIME SINCE OFFSEASON DEPARTURE

Former Blues captain David Backes, who signed with the Bruins as a free agent on July 1, faces his former team for the first time when St. Louis visits Boston at TD Garden as part of a national broadcast in the U.S. (NBCSN) and Canada (SN). A second-round selection (No. 62) by the Blues in the 2003 NHL Draft, Backes played his first 10 seasons in St. Louis, where he had 206 goals and 460 points in 727 regular-season appearances. He also wore a letter in seven of those seasons, including the last five as Blues captain. Backes returns to St. Louis for the first time when the Bruins play the Blues at Scottrade Center on Jan. 10.
