The 25-year-old forward will play the final season of a three-year contract he signed Sept. 23, 2019. He could have become an unrestricted free agent.

He scored 48 points (23 goals, 25 assists) in 56 games last season, and 23 points (14 goals, nine assists) in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Point has led the past two postseasons in goals, helping the Lightning win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.
He set NHL career highs with 41 goals, 51 assists and 92 points in 2018-19.
He is the latest player to sign a contract extension with Tampa Bay before playing his pending free agent season: forward Nikita Kucherov (eight years, $76 million, $9.5 million average annual value prior to 2018-19 season), defenseman Victor Hedman (eight years, $63 million, $7.87 million AAV prior to 2016-17 season) and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy (eight years, $76 million, $9.5 million AAV prior to 2019-20 season).

The Lightning also signed goalie Brian Elliott to a
one-year, $900,000 contract
, and defenseman Zach Bogosian to a three-year, $2.55 million contract ($850,000 average annual value) on Wednesday.
