Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh had maybe the most Irish celebration the Stanley Cup has ever seen. McDonagh, back in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, made a grand entrance with The Greatest Trophy in All of Sports this weekend. Attending a party at Shamrock's Irish Nook, McDonagh followed a 10-piece bagpipe band through the doorway hoisting the Cup.
McDonagh also hosted some party crashers in Lightning teammates Pat Maroon and Zach Bogosian, a teammate once again. Bogosian, a member of the 2019-20 champion Lightning, re-signed with the team on Wednesday after spending the 2020-21 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Before the Irish-heavy get together on Saturday, McDonagh visited St. Paul Fire Department Station 1 where he was made an honorary firefigher and thanked the bagpipers. "Honorary Saint Paul fireman, wow. Thank you to the Saint Paul Fire Department and Station 1. I'm honored to have met each and every one of you with the Cup. You guys are the true champs. And thanks for the proper send off!" McDonagh
