LAK@ANA: Kopitar makes it 2-1 with 56 seconds left

ANAHEIM -- Anze Kopitar scored with 56 seconds left in the third period, and the Los Angeles Kings rallied for a 2-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Friday.

Kopitar drove to the net on the left side before deking goalie John Gibson and scoring on his backhand for his 997th NHL point.
"I figured Gibson was going to come slide and I could go around him the other way, and obviously I've got an empty net," he said. "Tonight, it worked out."

LAK@ANA: Vilardi's amazing pass sets up Andersson

Lias Andersson scored for the Kings off a between-the-legs pass from Gabriel Vilardi to tie the game 1-1 at 14:56 of the third.
"He's got to feel pretty good about making that play," Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said of Vilardi. "I believe he can make that on a regular basis, tight areas where he uses his vision and creates like that."
Jonathan Quick made 33 saves for the Kings (19-23-6), who won for the second time in five games.
Los Angeles is seventh in the eight-team Honda West Division, eight points behind the fourth-place St. Louis Blues for the final Stanley Cup Playoff berth. The Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild have qualified from the division.
Haydn Fleury scored, and Gibson made 23 saves for the Ducks (15-29-7), who have not won in regulation at home in their past 23 games (3-17-3).
"We've talked about it ad nauseum this year," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "There's been nights where we've lacked chances, and there's been nights like tonight where we have a ton of them."
The teams will play the last of a four-game series here Saturday. The Ducks rallied from down two goals for a 3-2 win at Los Angeles on Wednesday after losing 4-1 on Monday.

LAK@ANA: Fleury scores off face-off to open scoring

Fleury gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 5:37 of the first period with his first goal since being acquired in a trade from the Carolina Hurricanes on April 12. Rookie center Trevor Zegras won a face-off to Fleury at the left point for a shot through traffic.
It was Fleury's second goal in 43 games this season.
"All the guys, all the coaches are really welcoming and really encouraging me to play how I know I can play," he said. "[Scoring] is something I feel I can do, and that's something I think I can improve in my game."
The Ducks outshot the Kings 20-6 in the second period.
"Your goaltending is going to have to stand tall on nights where you're just not generating anything, but on a night like tonight, we should've had run support," Eakins said. "You're rolling that third period, and it would be way better to be up by two or three than hanging on by one."
Quick made 10 saves shorthanded, helping Los Angeles go 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
"I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to see that he was the reason we were still in the game," McLellan said. "He was outstanding. Some of the saves he made, and secondary chances he somehow got a pad on or a blocker. He was their savior for two periods."
