ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues fired coach Mike Yeo following a 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at Enterprise Center on Monday.

Craig Berube, who was hired as an associate on Yeo's staff June 15, 2017, was named interim coach.
The Blues (7-9-3) were shut out for the second straight game and third time in the past four. St. Louis has a goal drought of 142:48, dating to the second period of a 4-1 win at the Vegas Golden Knights on Nov. 16.

Calvin Petersen made 29 saves for his first NHL shutout, and Matt Luff scored his first NHL goal for the Kings (7-12-1), who won for the second time in the past six games (2-4-0) and fifth in the past 16 (5-11-0).
Petersen made his third NHL start and got his second win in four nights.
"It has to be the top," Petersen said of the shutout among his career accomplishments. "For it to come at this level against that type of competition is very rewarding. At the same time, the amount of effort and sacrifice that the boys put in tonight, it's just as much a shutout on their part as it is on mine."

Petersen was recalled from Ontario of the American Hockey League with the Kings in need of help with injured goaltenders Jonathan Quick (knee) and Jack Campbell (knee).
"He played good all the way through the trip," Los Angeles coach Willie Desjardins said. "We were in a bit of a tough spot so we really needed him to play well, and he played well."
Jake Allen made 25 saves for the Blues.
"It's weird," St. Louis center Tyler Bozak said. "At the start of the year we were scoring a ton of goals and giving up way too many, and now we're not scoring but we're not giving up as much either. It's kind of weird how it goes like that but we've got to get back to work tomorrow. We've got a big stretch of games here against some really good hockey teams so it's going to be important for us to focus on some good things we did and build off that and be ready to go to Nashville."
The Blues have lost four of five games (1-4-0) after winning four of their previous five.
Luff, in his sixth NHL game, scored at 8:18 of the second period off a Kings breakout after the Blues lost the puck in the neutral zone. He beat Allen from the high slot to make it 1-0.
Carl Hagelin got an assist for his first point since being traded to the Kings by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Nov. 14.
"It wasn't a perfect shot but luckily it went in," Luff said. "I thought about it a little bit in the previous games. Tonight it was in my head to just don't think about it. I kind of just blocked it out and shot my shot and it went in."
Anze Kopitar scored an empty-net goal with 30 seconds remaining in the third period to make it 2-0.

They said it

"It's unreal. We were talking when I gave him a hug on the ice about that. Couldn't have picked a better day for it to happen with him getting his first shutout. We talked about it on the plane. He's probably one of the best kids, so I'm happy it happened for him." -- Kings forward Matt Luff on scoring his first NHL goal in the same game that goalie Calvin Petersen got his first NHL shutout
"Yeah, it's frustrating. We had some good looks, especially there at the end. But we've got to find ways to score. You can't win hockey games without scoring goals." -- Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo
