Kings team scope

Los Angeles Kings captain Anze Kopitar has two goals in 12 games and has no points in his past five, but those numbers do not appear to be much concern to Kings coach Darryl Sutter. "He's a great player," Sutter said of Kopitar. "Most great players lead by example and he's done just that." The Kings have scored eight goals in their past two games, but were shut out in their previous three, and have 28 goals in 12 games. Goaltender Peter Budaj will start. Has won his past two starts and is 6-3-0 with a 2.06 goals-against average in 10 games (nine starts). Los Angeles begins a five-game road trip on Tuesday. They are 1-4-0 on the road.

Maple Leafs team scope

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has one point, an assist, in his past six games after having six goals and four assists in his first six NHL games. Matthews will face Kopitar for the first time in League competition.
"He's definitely a player I always liked to watch and looked it," Matthews said. "I played against him in pre-tournament games in the World Cup, so it's going to be fun playing against him tonight." The Maple Leafs are on a season-high three-game winning streak.
