Forward Loui Eriksson signed a six-year, $36 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. The contract has an average annual value of $6 million.
Eriksson, 30, had 30 goals and 63 points in 82 games with the Boston Bruins last season.

"We were looking to add scoring to this group [for 2016-17] and Loui is a player that scored 30 goals in the League last year," general manager Jim Benning told the Canucks website. "We feel he's a real versatile player, can play left wing or right wing. He's a first-line power-play guy and he can kill penalties. We think he's a good all-around player and there's a fit there with the Sedins. We just think that at the end of the day he was the best fit for our club."
The Canucks scored 182 non-shootout goals last season, second-fewest in the League. They had two 20-goal scorers, Daniel Sedin with 28 and Jannik Hansen with 22, and Daniel Sedin (61) and Henrik Sedin (55) were the only Canucks with more than 50 points.
Eriksson has scored at least 20 goals six times in 10 seasons, and has two 30-goal seasons.

"He's a guy that keeps himself in really good shape physically," Benning said. "He's long (6-foot-2, 183 pounds) and his skill set, his hands, his ability to make plays in tight spaces has always been very good. We just feel like it's a good fit for him with our group. We need to add scoring to our group and he's going to do that."
In 10 seasons with the Dallas Stars and Bruins, Eriksson has 212 goals and 504 points in 725 regular-season games.
