The 19-year-old forward scored 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) in 38 games with Eisbaren in Deutsche Eishokey Liga (DEL), the top professional league in Germany and was the highest-scoring 21-and-under player in the league. Reichel scored five points (two goals, three assists) in nine postseason games for Eisbaren, which won the DEL championship in May.
"I think I played a good season with Eisbaren and the national team, too," Reichel said Friday. "So yeah, I'm really looking forward and I'll give my best in training camp next season and the summer we'll see what happens."
Reichel scored six points (two goals, four assists) in nine games for Germany at the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Germany finished fourth in the tournament, losing 6-1 to the United States in the third-place game Sunday.
"I still want to gain weight," said Reichel, who's 6-foot, 170 pounds. "The ice is smaller, and the (NHL) is tougher. It's small battles in the corners, but I have to prepare for that. That's why I want to get stronger this summer."
Robert Reichel, Lukas' uncle, played 11 seasons in the NHL for the Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs. He helped the Czech Republic win its first Olympic gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.
