MacKenzie Weegar agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers, general manager Dale Tallon announced Thursday. Financial terms were not released.
The 25-year-old defenseman, who was a restricted free agent, was scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing July 22. Weegar had NHL career highs in goals (four), assists (11), points (15) and games played (64) with the Panthers last season. Selected by Florida in the seventh round (No. 206) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Weegar has 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 127 NHL games. RELATED: [NHL Free Agent Tracker\]
