Auston Matthews is all of us.

That is to say, he can't stop binge-watching television shows while the NHL season is paused due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward mentioned his new viewing habit on Thursday: dating shows.

Matthews is particularly into the popular series "Love is Blind" on Netflix and "Love Island" on CBS.

"The first one I watched is Love Is Blind. It was on Netflix. It was just kind of like right there so I started watching it," Matthews said. "I think I watched it two or three times because I wanted all my friends to watch it."

Matthews is in self-isolation in Arizona with Maple Leafs teammate Frederik Andersen and another friend.

"My other good friend who is here, I wanted him to watch it. And then another friend of mine was watching this Love Island show. Kind of turned me on to it," Matthews said. "Freddie is not really a fan of that one. He can only watch a couple of episodes where he kind of leaves the room and goes somewhere else."

Matthews, like so many of us, knows he isn't watching anything high brow but can't look away.

"I really don't know what the appeal is. It's pretty awful. I'm in deep now, so I can't really turn back," he said.
