Ilya Mikheyev signed a two-year, $3.29 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. It has an average annual value of $1.6 million.
The 26-year-old forward was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Wednesday. He scored 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 39 regular-season games with the Maple Leafs last season and did not play after injuring his right wrist Dec. 27. He returned for the best-of-5 Stanley Cup Qualifiers but did not score a point in the Maple Leafs' five-game loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mikheyev was signed by Toronto as an undrafted free agent May 6, 2019.
