Tavares was joined out on the ice by his wife, Aryne and two sons, Jace and Axton, who was wearing a custom jacket with "Tavares 1000" on the back and Maple Leafs and New York Islanders logo on the sleeves. Tavares played 669 games for the Islanders before signing with the Maple Leafs in 2018.
Tavares parents, Barbara and Joe, were also in attendance.
NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell presented Tavares with the customary Tiffany crystal commemorating the feat. Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas presented the captain with an engraved silver stick.
