"To tell you the truth, it just felt great," Hossa said. "Great reception from the fans and just kind of my career just really quick. It's 500 goals. I'm just glad to be a part of that company and thank all my teammates who I played with."
The 37-year-old is the 44th NHL player to score 500 goals.
Hossa is the third NHL player born in Slovakia to score that many (Stan Mikita, 541; Peter Bondra, 503), and the fifth player to score his 500th with the Blackhawks (Mikita; Bobby Hull; Michel Goulet; Bondra).
Hossa, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 1, 1997, has played 1,240 games for the Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers and Ottawa Senators.
