Forward Matt Nieto signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks on Monday.
Financial terms were not released, but the San Jose Mercury News reported Nieto will receive $735,000. He can become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

"Matt brings tremendous speed to our lineup and is someone that opposing teams must be aware of when he is on the ice," general manager Doug Wilson told the Sharks website. "His quickness plays exactly into our team mentality and we feel that he played some of his most effective hockey down the stretch during our playoff run this past season."
Nieto, 23, had eight goals and 17 points in 67 games for the Sharks last season, and one goal and three points in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games, to help San Jose reach the Stanley Cup Final, where it lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.
Selected in the second round (No. 47) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Nieto has 28 goals and 68 points in three NHL seasons (205 games), all with the Sharks.
