Matias Maccelli signed a three-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Financial terms were not announced.
The 22-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, led NHL rookies in assists (38) and was second in points (49) in 64 games last season. He finished fourth in voting for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year, which was won by Seattle Kraken forward Matty Beniers.
"We are very pleased to sign Matias to a three-year contract," Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said. "He is a highly skilled forward with great hockey sense and playmaking ability. He had an outstanding rookie season and is a big part of our core group of players. We are excited to have him back."
Selected by Arizona in the fourth round (No. 98) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Maccelli has 55 points (12 goals, 43 assists) in 87 regular-season games.
