If you want to dance, you got to pay the band. And if you want to bet against
2023 IIHF World Junior Champion Canada
, you have to wear their jersey for Jordan Eberle.

Seattle Kraken forward Matty Beniers made good on a friendly wager he lost to Eberle, wearing a Team Canada jersey to practice on Friday.
Beniers, fresh off being named a 2023 Pacific Division NHL All-Star, humbly paid up after betting that Team USA would finish ahead of Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Tournament. Canada won gold with a 3-2 overtime victory against Czechia on Thursday.
Beniers, the first-ever draft pick in Kraken history [drafted No. 2 at the 2021 NHL Draft], is a native of Hingham Massachusetts. Eberle hails from Regina, Saskatchewan. Both represented their country as top players at their respective World Junior tournaments.
At practice, Eberle didn't make things easy on his teammate.

"Me and Ebs were getting into on World Juniors and talking about how good he was at World Juniors," Beniers said in a video shared by the Kraken on social media. "So, we made a bet that the U.S. would beat Canada. Whoever lost would have to wear a jersey on the ice. I unfortunately lost."
"I thought he looked great," Eberle said. "It's probably the best practice he's had."
Eberle was impressed the rookie followed through on his end of the deal.
"He was a good sport. Honestly I think if I would have lost, I would have tried to bribe him to not do it, so good on him for coming up with the bet."
Another member of the Kraken, forward Shane Wright, the fourth pick of the 2022 NHL Draft, captained the 2023 champions for the tournament.
"It's tough wearing that jersey," Beniers said. "Well, we got a lot of Canadians, so they all loved it, I'd say."
