Max Domi was traded to the Dallas Stars by the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.

Chicago received goalie
Anton Khudobin
and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft for the forward and goalie prospect
Dylan Wells
.
Domi, who turned 28 on Thursday, signed a one-year contract with the Blackhawks on July 13, 2022, and can become an unrestricted free agent after this season. He had 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists) in 60 games this season before being held out of a 5-2 loss to the Stars earlier Thursday for roster management.
"Honestly I don't know a whole lot (about the Stars), but I do know they're a really tough team to play against and always have been since I got into the League," Domi said Friday. "Tough building to play in, great city, and from what I've heard from other guys that have played here, it's a great group in that locker room. All great stuff, team that's trying to win (the) Stanley Cup, and just feel really honored to get the call to be a part of something special here and really excited to be here.
"It was one of the crazier days I've ever been a part of, if I'm being honest with you. Combination of getting some birthday texts yesterday and trying to figure out what's going on in terms of my future. There was a lot going on, but it's part of the game, it's part of the business, it's what I signed up for and I absolutely love it, living out my childhood dreams."
Selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round (No. 12) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Domi has 363 points (119 goals, 244 assists) in 561 regular-season games for the Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets and Coyotes, and nine points (three goals, six assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"I'm a pretty simple player to describe," Domi said. "I'll try and work as hard as I possibly can every single shift and do absolutely anything I can to help the team win. I know it's a cliche answer, but that's how I was raised. My dad (Tie Domi) played this game for a long, long time, and those are the kind of characteristics he instilled in me from a young age. Whatever the coaching staff and my teammates expect of me, which is obviously we're going to talk about that and figure out positionally tomorrow, but I'll be ready to go. Every shift is something you can't take for granted in this league. It's the best league in the world, and I certainly don't do that."
