The gold-medal winning captain of the United States at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics will work with assistant general manager Dan MacKinnon with a focus on on-ice and off-ice information. She also will work with Devils development coaches and management on designing development plans for all players in the organization, assess players through in-person and video scouting, and work in on-ice player development.

"As our group has evolved over the past few years to include as much about off-ice as on-ice for development, we believe Meghan will be perfect for this position. Her successful track record as a teammate, leader, captain and driver of initiatives will be resources to all players in our organization. We look forward to her utilizing her perspective of the game, attention to detail and creative thinking to help our players reach their potential."
Duggan retired from professional hockey Oct. 13. The 33-year-old scored 78 points (43 goals, 35 assists) in 144 games for the United States women's national team from 2007-18. She helped the U.S. win the silver medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Olympics and also helped the U.S. to seven first-place finishes at the IIHF Women's World Championship (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017).
Duggan played four seasons at Wisconsin (2006-09, 2010-11) and is the third-leading scorer in women's hockey history at the school, with 238 points (108 goals, 130 assists) in 159 games, behind Hilary Knight (262 points) and Brianna Decker (244), and helped Wisconsin win the NCAA championship in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
She played six seasons of professional hockey, including four with the Boston Blades (2011-15), who won the Clarkson Cup, the Canadian Women's Hockey League championship, in 2013 and 2015. She also played one season each with the Buffalo Beauts (2015-16) and the Boston Pride (2016-17) in the National Women's Hockey League.
