Mika dad lineup

Mika Zibanejad got hyped by a very special guest ahead of his 700th career game on Thursday.

His father, Mehrdad, read the New York Rangers starting lineups before their game against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesar's Arena.
The proud dad read his son's name with a smile on his face as he told the Rangers locker room it was the forward's 700th career game.

Zibanejad's dad proved to be good luck for his son who scored his eighth goal of the season in the first period.
"It's always special to have your parents and famiy and friends in the stands watching," Zibanejad said in an intermission interview with MSG. "But I think it's opportunities like this that you don't get very often to have them come and see how we travel, how our schedule is and just be a part of everything that close... From all the rides I got from him when I was a kid and all the sacrifices he put up. It's special"

The Rangers are currently hosting player's fathers on a two-game road trip. Earlier in the day, the Rangers had fun with the dads playing a game to see how well they know their sons in a video posted by the team on Twitter.
Ryan Reaves and his dad "Big Willy" performed the best at the game, with his dad answering only one question wrong, much to the veteran forward's surprise.

The is just beginning for the Rangers and their dad's this weekend.
