MIN@CBJ: Stalock stymies Blue Jackets in 5-0 road win

COLUMBUS-- Alex Stalock made 24 saves for the Minnesota Wild in a 5-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Friday.

The Wild (32-25-7) have outscored opponents 17-5 during a three-game winning streak. They are 12-5-1 in the past 18 games.
Minnesota is one point behind the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
"It's amazing. It's momentum," Stalock said. "It's a momentum-type situation, and we've been on a roll. We just seem to keep rolling, rolling and going and going."

Goalie Joonas Korpisalo was pulled from his first start since Dec. 29 for the Blue Jackets (31-21-14), who are 1-5-5 in the past 11 games.

MIN@CBJ: Greenway, Eriksson Ek team up for sweet goal

The Blue Jackets hold the second wild card in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers.
"We didn't have the ability to do anything tonight," Columbus coach John Tortorella said. "Forget offense, defense. That was just a bad game. We haven't had many of those, but we had one tonight.
"We're done with it already. The biggest point that puts us behind the eight ball is that we just have no patience right now. There was nothing good about that game."
Kevin Fiala and Zach Parise each had a goal and an assist for Minnesota, which has won five straight on the road, including 7-1 against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. Eleven players had at least one point for the Wild.
"We've got a lot of depth throughout our lineup," said Minnesota forward Jordan Greenway, who had two assists. "It's paying dividends for the team knowing you can rely on all four lines to score when we need it.
"It's huge, especially in a back-to-back situation. Everyone's kind of playing the same minutes so we don't have to rely on our two lines to be out there all the time, for example."

MIN@CBJ: Spurgeon converts on rush to double lead

Joel Eriksson Ek scored at 6:12 of the first period to make it 1-0. Jared Spurgeon made it 2-0 34 seconds later.
"The great start really helped because we were just able to roll lines," Wild coach Dean Evason said. "Our start was key for sure."
Ryan Hartman scored at 10:52 of the second period for a 3-0 lead. Zach Parise was alone in front at 12:30 to extend it to 4-0.
Fiala scored on the power play at 12:20 of the third period for the 5-0 final.
Korpisalo, playing for the second time since Dec. 29 returning from a knee injury, made 11 saves on 15 shots before being replaced with 7:30 left in the second period. Matiss Kivlenieks saved 10 of 11 shots in relief.
Columbus has allowed 10 goals in the past two games, including a 5-4 loss at Minnesota on Tuesday.
"We know how we have to play," Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski said. "We did it most of the season. We have to get back to it."

Stalock earns Friday's Pepsi Zero Sugar Shutout

They said it

"Right now, the way we're playing, everyone is contributing on both sides of the puck. Everyone is being reliable without the puck and it's working for us. The schedule is going to get tougher the next couple games, so that will be the challenge to keep playing that way on both sides of the puck." -- Wild forward Zach Parise

MIN@CBJ: Parise tucks puck home to extend lead

"Our understanding how the way this league works right now and how everyone ramps up their game, that's what's lacking. The understanding of how hard it is this time of the year. There's an elevation to everyone's game. I don't think we've done it. I don't think we've elevated ours." -- Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno
