12 Stars record a point in wild battle with the Wild

Seven players scored for the Dallas Stars in a 7-4 win against the Minnesota Wild at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Monday.

"Seven goals, seven goal scorers, that's great to see, that's good balance," Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. "We need it. We talked about it all year. We need that balanced scoring."
Miro Heiskanen and Jamie Benn each had a goal and assist for the Stars (15-12-2), who have won their past two games following a five-game losing streak. Jake Oettinger made 19 saves.
"Everyone left it out there on the table and it's a good feeling going into this little (holiday) break we have," forward Jason Robertson said.
Kirill Kaprizov had a goal and two assists, and Kevin Fiala scored twice for the Wild (19-9-2), who have lost four in a row (0-3-1). Cam Talbot made 22 saves.
It was the first time Talbot allowed six goals since a 6-0 loss with the Calgary Flames at the Vegas Golden Knights on Nov. 17, 2019.
"First two shots of the game go in, not a recipe for success, that's for sure," Talbot said.

Joe Pavelski scored on a rebound to give Dallas a 1-0 lead at 1:31 of the first period.
Esa Lindell scored 1:53 later after he intercepted a clear attempt by Talbot for a shorthanded goal at 3:24. It was Lindell's first goal since April 17, a span of 52 games.
"I thought I could catch a few of their guys changing, just poor judgement on my part," Talbot said.
Ryan Hartman cut it to 2-1 when he one-timed a pass from Kaprizov at 5:25.
Fiala tied it 2-2 off a backhand pass from Marcus Foligno at 15:42.
"We fought back, right?" Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. "We were pretty resilient at the start. We caught a couple bad plays at the start, but we battled our butt off to get back to even."
However, Tyler Seguin put the Stars back in front 1:01 later after a drop pass from Denis Gurianov to make it 3-2 at 16:43.
Roope Hintz made it 4-2 with a power play goal from the left face-off dot at 8:02 of the second period.
Kaprizov cut it to 4-3 at 17:37 with a shot from a sharp angle in the right circle.
Jacob Peterson's shot deflected off Alex Goligoski's stick and got past Talbot at 2:06 of the third period to make it 5-3, and Heiskanen extended the Stars lead a minute later to make it 6-3 at 3:06.
"I felt good about how we were playing," Bowness said. "You have to respect the opposition. … The start, going after them. The start of the third, going after them. I like that. That's our approach."

Evason pulled Talbot for an extra attacker with 9:20 left in the third period.
"(Down) three goals, and that's what we do," Evason said. "It was a no-brainer for us. We think we would have had a chance if we didn't extend our shifts."
Fiala cut it to 6-4 at 15:06 during a power play and Talbot pulled to create a 6-on-4 situation.
"It's tough to erase those two goals," Foligno said. "We'd maybe have a better outcome tonight. We didn't really get to our game. We turned back some pucks, obviously got a shorthanded goal against, those things hurt. It's just one of those things where we had our legs, we had our game after that, but you let up two goals, chances of winning are very slim."
Benn scored an empty-net goal at 18:28 for the 7-4 final, securing the Stars 10th win in their past 11 home games.
"We wanted to pay them back for the game we had in Minnesota (a 7-2 loss Nov.18)," Bowness said. "We wanted to come out hard and we did that. … (I) don't like giving up four goals, but they're a very good hockey team over there. They've got skill, wow.
"Overall, that's a great win for this team."
NOTES: Benn and his brother, Wild defenseman Jordie Benn, played against each other for the first time since Nov. 19, 2019, when Jordie played for the Vancouver Canucks. … Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek left the game at 10:35 of the second period because of an upper-body injury. There was no update. … Minnesota forward Mats Zuccarello had two assists and has scored 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his past 10 games. … Kaprizov leads the NHL in scoring with 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) since Nov. 18 (15 games). … Pavelski has scored 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in his past 12 games. … Robertson had two assists and has scored 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his past eight home games.
