"I would like to play at least another season," Fleury said Tuesday. "I decided that recently. I still enjoy playing. I still have fun, my body is still holding up, most of the time. But yes, another season and we'll see after."
The 37-year-old goalie, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the season, is in the final season of a three-year, $21 million contract ($7 million average annual value) he signed with the Vegas Golden Knights on July 13, 2018.
Fleury is 25-22-5 with a 2.90 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and four shutouts in 52 games for the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks this season, his 18th in the NHL. He is 6-1-0 with a 2.59 GAA and .921 save percentage in seven games since being traded to the Wild on March 21.
Minnesota won 2-0 at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, when Fleury backed up Cam Talbot, who made 26 saves for his third shutout of the season. The Wild (48-21-7) have clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and are tied for second place in the Central Division with the St. Louis Blues.
"It's fun to be part of a good team with a good bunch of guys," Fleury said. "Cam is a great person, he's a good goalkeeper, we get along well together. It makes things simpler. I think that together, the two of us, we should be playing [in the playoffs]. We will do our best to help this team."
Fleury became the third goalie in NHL history to win 500 games when he made 30 saves in Chicago's 2-0 win against the Canadiens on Dec. 9. His 517 victories for the Wild, Blackhawks, Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins are third in NHL history, behind Martin Brodeur (691) and Patrick Roy (551).
Fleury won the Stanley Cup three times (2008, 2016, 2017) during his 13 seasons with the Penguins, who chose him with the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. He was selected by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft and helped them advance to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season, losing in five games to the Washington Capitals.
Last season, Fleury was 26-10-0 with a 1.98 GAA, .928 save percentage and six shutouts for Vegas, winning the Vezina Trophy voted as the best goalie in the NHL. He was traded to the Blackhawks on July 27.
