van Riemsdyk, Flyers top Wild in shootout at home

PHILADELPHIA -- The Minnesota Wild extended their road point streak to 10 games with a 5-4 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

Matt Boldy scored two goals for Minnesota (41-22-9), which is 7-0-3 in its past 10 away from home. Oskar Sundqvist and Marcus Foligno scored, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves.
The Wild trail the Dallas Stars by one point for first place in the Central Division after the Stars defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 at home Thursday.
"We weren't very good," Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. "They were good. We knew they were playing well, they played well tonight. We were loose, we were not firm, turnovers. It didn't look like our hockey club."

MIN@PHI: van Riemsdyk, Hart, Flyers win in shootout

Joel Farabee scored for the fourth straight game and had an assist for Philadelphia (27-32-12), which has won consecutive games for the first time since a three-game winning streak Jan. 9-14. Scott Laughton, Rasmus Ristolainen and Tyson Foerster scored, James van Riemsdyk had the only goal of the shootout, and Carter Hart made 20 saves.
It was the 700th NHL win for Flyers coach John Tortorella, the 12th coach to reach the milestone.
Philadelphia is 3-0-1 in its past four, having outscored 19 goals in that span, including a 6-3 win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
"Pucks are going in for us," Tortorella said. "We're scoring some goals obviously. When we were losing some games, we weren't playing that bad, we just couldn't find the net. ... Now pucks have been going for us."

MIN@PHI: Foerster finishes DeAngelo's feed in 3rd

Foerster tied it 4-4 at 14:16 of the third period. He skated the puck off the wall on the right side of the Wild zone, got to the face-off circle and scored to the far side over Fleury's shoulder.
The rookie forward, who made his NHL debut March 9, has six points (two goals, four assists) in a four-game point streak.
"I remember him even from his first training camp [in 2020], just his smarts," van Riemsdyk said. "You could tell even back then, obviously he was a little more raw than I think now, but you can tell he's developed and gotten much more confident, comfortable and just gotten the reps. ... And obviously his shot probably is going to be his calling card and what drives a lot of his success. You've seen a couple instances where he really fires it. He can beat goalies clean from a distance, which is pretty impressive."

MIN@PHI: Farabee nets his 13th goal of season in 2nd

Laughton put the Flyers ahead 1-0 at 12:58 of the first period. Travis Sanheim carried the puck down the right side and passed across the zone to Laughton, who scored from a sharp angle.
Sundqvist, who turned 29 on Thursday, tied it 1-1 at 16:35 when he skated through the slot and redirected Jake Middleton's shot. He has five points (three goals, two assists) in a five-game point streak.
Farabee put the Flyers ahead 2-1 at 7:26 of the second period when he tipped a Cam York shot in the slot. Prior to his goal streak, the forward had gone 26 games without scoring.
"He's been around the net, does it again tonight," Tortorella said. "You just want certain players that have had some struggles to find their way here a little bit so they can have a good mindset when they leave and get ready for next year."

MIN@PHI: Sanheim earns 100th NHL assist on goal

Boldy tied it 2-2 at 14:41 with a wrist shot from just above the left circle, extending his point streak to seven games (12 points; eight goals, four assists).
Foligno put the Wild ahead 3-2 at 18:16 with a shot from the right circle.
Ristolainen tied it 3-3 with a power-play goal at 19:37.
Boldy gave Minnesota a 4-3 lead at 13:32. Hart had reached high for a blocker save on Jonas Brodin's point shot, but the puck landed at his feet. Boldy got to it and, with his back to the goal, backhanded the puck between the skates of Philadelphia defenseman Ivan Provorov and under Hart.
"They've got nothing to lose and you're trying to climb the standings," Foligno said. "I've been on teams like that and you can beat some teams late. It's got to come down to character and leadership and understand that we have to play the right way no matter what the circumstances are."
NOTES: Minnesota defenseman John Klingberg was scratched because of an upper-body injury. "Hopefully we'll get him back in a couple of days," Evason said. ... Boldy's second goal was his 40th in the NHL. At age 21 years, 352 days, he's the second-youngest Wild player to reach the mark (Marian Gaborik; 20 years, 22 days). … Philadelphia forward Nicolas Deslauriers took the warmup but did not play because of an upper-body injury. He is day to day. ... The Flyers went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill after allowing at least one power play goal in each of their previous seven games. … Tortorella is 700-573-144 with 37 ties in 1,454 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Flyers.
