Winnipeg leads best-of-7 series 3-1
WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Jets can win a Stanley Cup Playoff series for the first time in franchise history by defeating the Minnesota Wild in Game 5 of the Western Conference First Round at Bell MTS Place on Friday.

The Jets haven't won a playoff series since entering the NHL as the Atlanta Thrashers in 1999-2000. Winnipeg has not had a team win a Stanley Cup series since the original Jets (now the Arizona Coyotes) defeated the Calgary Flames in the 1987 Smythe Division Semifinals.

Of the 297 teams that have taken a 3-1 lead in a best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series, 269 (90.6 percent) have won the series, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
Jets forward Patrik Laine has four points (two goals, two assists) in the series. Wild forward Mikko Koivu has four assists.
Here are 5 keys for Game 5:

1. Finishing the job

Bell MTS Place, one of the NHL's loudest arenas, figures to be even louder than usual with the Jets having a chance to close out the Wild by winning Game 5. The Jets had an NHL-best 32 home victories during the regular season and won Games 1 and 2 to extend their winning streak in their own building to 11 games. For the Jets, the only thing better than winning a playoff series for the first time in franchise history would be winning it in front of their own fans.

2. Morrissey suspended, Myers returns

The Jets will be without defenseman Josh Morrissey, who
was suspended one game by the NHL
on Wednesday after cross-checking Wild forward Eric Staal in the head in Game 4. Morrissey has averaged 20:12 in ice time during the series and is used by coach Paul Maurice in all situations.
"We've had success when we've focused on our defense first and let the offense come to us and let our skill come to us," forward Bryan Little said. "Losing Josh is not easy. He's been one of our most consistent, great defenders. Highly underrated. We're going to have to do what we've done all year - have guys step in for him."
However,
the Jets are also likely to get defenseman
Tyler Myers back after he sustained a lower-body injury during Game 3 and didn't play in Game 4. Myers said after the morning skate that he was good to go. Maurice was non-committal but did say, "He looks good out there."

3. Win or go home for Wild

Staal and his teammates are aware that their season will end tonight without a victory.
"You've got to get a win out of it," Staal said. "We played some spurts of good hockey up there, and spurts of not so good. We need a full 60 minutes, we need everybody and we need to win. The season is on the line. We've got nothing else to save it for. We're going to lay it all out there, and hopefully be the best we can be. And if we do that, we'll give ourselves a good chance and wake up the next day and go from there."

4. Wild shuffle lines

Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau altered his lines at practice Thursday in an effort to find more scoring.
Charlie Coyle was promoted to the top line with Jason Zucker and Staal. Nino Niederreiter was dropped to the second line with Mikael Granlund and Koivu.
"We definitely need some production whether it be from (Coyle) or (Zucker) or (Niederreiter), guys that haven't had any production yet in this series," Boudreau said. "We need something from somebody."

5. Rau, Murphy get call

Wild forward Kyle Rau and defenseman Ryan Murphy are expected make their playoff debuts in Game 5.
"Obviously, it's a whole different level, but [I] played in big games growing up," Rau said. "Me and [Nick] Seeler were on a good team growing up and played in a lot of important games."
Said Murphy: "It's a big task, and I'm looking forward to it. All we have to do is win one game and bring it back to Minnesota, and we've got a series. Everyone in here is excited. We've been playing playoff hockey since the last 10 games of the season. I'm ready for it, and the guys are as well."
