MTL@ANA: Terry scores on the touch pass from Getzlaf

ANAHEIM --Ryan Getzlaf became the Anaheim Ducks' all-time scoring leader in a 4-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens at Honda Center on Sunday.

The 36-year-old forward passed
Teemu Selanne
when he got an assist for his 989th point on a breakaway goal by Troy Terry at 10:10 of the third period that gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead.
Getzlaf has 279 goals and 710 assists in 1,111 games with Anaheim. Selanne had 988 points (457 goals, 531 assists) in 966 games with the Ducks from 1996-2001 and 2006-2014.
"I can't tell you how much that means to me," Getzlaf said. "To be able to be in front of our fans, our ownership, my family, to be here in our building, to accomplish that was a great thing for me."

Adam Henrique had a goal and an assist, and John Gibson made 16 saves for the Ducks (3-4-3), who won for the first time in seven games (1-3-3).
"I think Ryan understands the game so well," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "I think when he says that he's never cared about points, I think he does care about points. He cares about two points (in the standings), and that's it.
"I think if more players really took that mindset, then not only do your team's points look after themselves, but your individual goals and wants and needs and projections, they look after themselves. I think Ryan has cared about points every night, it was just two points."

MTL@ANA: Hoffman hammers home one-timer for PPG

Mike Hoffman and Jake Evans scored for the Canadiens (2-8-0), who went 1-3-0 on their four-game road trip. Sam Montembeault made 22 saves in his second start of the season.
"Probably one of the toughest situations I've been a part of," Evans said. "When we get back to Montreal, it's time to get going and find a way to win."
Henrique scored a power-play goal at 3:39 of the first period to give Anaheim a 1-0 lead.

Hoffman tied it 33 seconds later on Montreal's first shot of the game for a power-play goal at 4:12 of the first to make it 1-1.
Vinni Lettieri
, who made his season debut after being recalled from San Diego of the American Hockey League on Friday, scored at 12:47 during a five-minute power play to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead.
Evans tied it 2-2 on a rebound in front at 18:05 of the second period.
Terry scored on a breakaway off a pass off the boards from Getzlaf to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead. The goal extended Terry's point streak to eight games (five goals, five assists).
"He's Ryan Getzlaf and I knew he was going to find me if I got the speed through the middle," Terry said. "I just tried to get on my horse and go up the middle, and he laid one out perfectly for me. I'm glad I was able to score that for his sake, for our team's sake."
Getzlaf said breaking the record was one of the factors in his decision to re-sign with the Ducks this season.
"I don't worry about numbers. I don't like to talk about them, but it is something that I definitely wanted to accomplish," Getzlaf said. "(It will) give me a better sense of clarity going into retirement."
Sam Carrick
scored an empty-net goal with 1:10 remaining for the 4-2 final.
The Canadiens begin a five-game homestand Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings.
"We definitely dug ourselves a hole," Montreal forward Nick Suzuki said. "All these games are so important in the regular season, to put yourself in a good position to fight for a playoff spot. We haven't done a great job of being consistent. That's got to change.
"It feels like we've been talking about it a lot, but on the ice, something has to change and we have to be better."
NOTES: Ducks defensemen Cam Fowler and Kevin Shattenkirk each had two assists. … Canadiens center Cedric Paquette was ejected for boarding Anaheim forward Trevor Zegras at 10:17 of the first. Zegras missed the remainder of the period but returned for the second. Montreal was already without center
